Tuesday, Day 2 -- Fireflies and Bugs

Theme of the Day: Fireflies and Bugs
Campfire Story: Fireflies! by Julie Brinckloe
Morning Rainy Day Activity: Hula Hoop games! The rain did not stop our fun. No worries -- We brought our Hula Hoop games inside.
It was actually a perfect day to talk about Fireflies (or Lightning Bugs). The dark skies and dark rooms made our Lightning Bugs and glow sticks glow ever brighter.
SNACK: We made and ate Fireflies! We ate bodies, wings, eyeballs, glue, and the bioluminescent features of a Firefly. Just kidding! We really had:
Ritz crackers
Cream Cheese
Raisins
Green grapes
Indoor Centers: During morning circle, we talked about Fireflies and Lightning bugs and that we might be able to see them at night around our campsite. So today's centers were everything related to Fireflies and Lightning Bugs. We made:
a Lightning Bug made from an Easter egg
a Firefly jar to catch Fireflies, just like in our story
a Firefly jar picture
our own wacky bugs from construction paper, scissors, glue, and markers.
We also made bug cupcakes in our Insect sensory bin. Ooh!!
Music and Movement: We traveled from room to room to experience many different modes of music, movement, rhythm, and just plain FUN!!
