Sunshine Bags and Stayin' Alive at GFCC
This week at GFCC, our teachers have returned to their classrooms and are preparing for a great year.
On Monday, the teachers and staff were welcomed back with a Bag of Sunshine from our director, Sandy Duncan. She is a very creative and talented lady, and she spoils us with all of her special touches and awesome treats. As the saying goes, Love is in the Details! We all LOVE you too, Sandy!
On Tuesday, our staff had CPR training and also learned what to do if someone is choking.
From the American Heart Association (AHA): Hard and fast: That's the rule to remember when compressing the chest during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The AHA recommends pressing a depth of at least two inches for adults and children or one and one-half inches for infants. How fast? At least 100 times per minute, which just happens to be the beat of the 1977 disco tune by the Bee Gees, "Stayin' Alive."
Our instructors for the training event were from CPR Carolina. They have been teaching CPR and giving life-saving instruction for 35 years. From their website: "Specializing in business and community onsite American Heart Association training, we are dedicated on providing quality instruction in a fun, laid-back environment. CPR Carolina was founded on the idea that by providing a stress-free learning environment, participants enjoy and retain life-saving skills."
