Thankful To Be A Building Blocks Kid

During the month of November, the children in the Building Blocks class focused on Native Americans -- clothes, culture and food.
Clothes
In preparation for their Thanksgiving feast, the children in the Building Blocks class decorated shirts with Native American symbols, made feathered headbands, experienced time in a tee pee and assigned themselves (with help from their parents) their own Native American names.

Culture
Carlos, a Native American friend of GFCC, came to visit our school. The children loved hearing his stories and seeing an authentic Native American cradle board and clothing. Carlos dressed one of our students in traditional Native American clothing for a young boy.

Food
We concluded our Native American unit of study with a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. All of the children brought food to share with each other.
