Learning About Pumpkins with the Penguins

The Letter "T," Fair Day, Pumpkins, Gourds and Jack-O-Lanterns are just a few of the concepts that the Penguins have been having fun exploring.
The Letter "T"
We learned about the Letterland character, "Talking Tess."
We learned to write the letter "T" in our Handwriting Without Tears books.
Fair Day
We had Fair Day with the Super Star class.
We played games, had an obstacle course, made candy apple crafts, and popped popcorn for snack.
Each Penguin and Super Star won a prize -- a pretend fish in a plastic bag.
Pumpkins and Gourds
We observed the similarities and differences between pumpkins and gourds.
We discussed the size of pumpkins: small, medium and large.
We used chain links to measure the circumference of the pumpkins and unifix cubes to measure the height of the pumpkins.
Jack-O-Lanterns
We ended the week by talking about Jack-O-Lanterns.
We opened up a pumpkin and observed the slimy, fibrous strands and the pumpkin seeds.
The Penguins helped scoop all of the insides out of the pumpkin, and we turned it into Jack-O-Lantern Cat.
