🍎 GFCC Closes Early for the 2019-2020 School Year
March 25, 2020
Dear GFCC Parents,
I am writing the letter that you have probably been expecting, and I have been dreading. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Greenwood Forest Children’s Center (GFCC) will close for the year, effective today.
Much thought has gone into this decision by myself and the GFCC Committee. Since Wake County schools made the decision to close until May 15 and GFCC’s last day is May 22, we feel it would be confusing and counterproductive for the children to come back for a week or two and then send them home for the summer.
A decision has not been made about Summer Camp. We will take things one week at a time and as things progress and return to normal, we will look at that possibility.
Leanne and I will work a few odd hours in the office answering phone calls, messages, and emails in order to answer any questions you may have. As much as we would love to see you, please do not come by while “stay at home” requirements are in effect.
Tricia will continue to work from home posting news, activities, and updates on GFCC’s media outlets – GFCC’s website, Facebook pages, and Instagram pages. We would love to stay in contact with our GFCC families, so if you have any Random Cuteness going on at your house, you can text those pictures to Tricia at 919-271-1522, and she will be happy to share them with our GFCC family online.
On a personal note, I have missed you, your children, and the teachers more than I ever anticipated I could. The halls are so quiet it is hard to concentrate. I miss the smiles, the laughter, and the excitement the children bring to this place. Each of you have been a blessing to this school, and we appreciate your dedication to GFCC.
We hope that all of you and your extended families remain well and weather this storm without too many repercussions. Keep the faith. We are survivors, and we will get through this and better times will come.
We appreciate each and every one of you! Stay well!
