"The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
While the COVID-10 pandemic has changed our lives in many ways, it hasn't changed the need to celebrate and support young children and the adults who love, care for, and educate them.
This April 11-17, the ways we'll celebrate childhood may be different than they have been in the past. Some educators will still be in the classroom, ensuring that first responders can be available during this crisis and adjusting to the stresses that arise from these quickly changing circumstances and maintaining joyful learning in new ways.
Some have shifted playdates virtually and facilitating at-home learning experiences. And still, others will be lifting up their voices from their homes and communities to shine a spotlight on the importance of early childhood education. All are adapting quickly to new circumstances, a trait early educators are known for.
Wherever you are celebrating and supporting young children, we are here to support you."
